St John Paul II Catholic College - Nirimba Fields Campus

Welcome to St John Paul II Catholic College

St John Paul II Catholic College is a progressive co-educational Catholic school located across two campuses: Schofields (Years 7-10) and Nirimba (Years 11-12).

We are committed to being authentically Catholic; inviting, inclusive and just with a focus on innovative learning and teaching, strong leadership and professional development for staff.

The College has a strong tradition of academic and sporting excellence as well as a commitment to social justice initiatives.

The College places the student at the centre of all its energies. It is our desire that our students are able to develop spiritually, emotionally, physically and intellectually to their own personal best.

Nirimba campus

The senior campus forms part of the Nirimba Education precinct, an exciting and innovative educational concept incorporating the University of Western Sydney (UWS) and TAFE.

St John Paul II Catholic College students are able to access university courses at UWS and/or a TAFE diploma while studying for a High School Certificate. Students can also access Australian Catholic University courses off site. Presently, our St John Paul II students who successfully undertake and pass a UWS university course become eligible for automatic entry into UWS on completion of their Year 12 studies.

Facilities at the St John Paul II Catholic College campus are state of the art and include a performance centre and studios, gymnasium, well-resourced library and world-class sporting facilities. Classrooms are air-conditioned and, like Schofields, are equipped with the latest technology. The Campus also boasts an industrial kitchen designed specifically to deliver HSC courses.

Being located at the Quakers Hill/Nirimba Precinct, students have access to facilities such as TAFE libraries and music and recording studios.

Quakers Hill/Nirimba campus is a short walk from Quakers Hill railway station and accessible by bus.

Religious Education

St John Paul II Catholic College is committed to being authentically Catholic; inviting, inclusive and just with a focus on innovative and personalised learning and teaching, strong leadership and professional development for staff. The College has a strong tradition of academic and sporting excellence as well as a commitment to social justice initiatives.

Gospel values permeate all areas of the curriculum not just Religious Education and we encourage every student to pursue individual excellence, celebrate their own successes and that of others and respect the dignity of others.

Learning and Leadership Programs

Leadership at St John Paul II is modeled on Jesus’ examples of service to others. We provide opportunities for our students to develop the confidence and skills needed to help them become effective leaders of their peers and the College community.

A Student Representative Council chaired by the two College Student Leaders provides students with a forum to prepare and plan activities. The members of the council are nominated by their peers in each group and hold office for one year. The council develops focus areas and action plans at the start of each year.

Student leaders facilitate the support of various Christian organisations and run events and other community building activities throughout the year.

Co-Curricular Programs - Freedom To Flourish

St John Paul II Catholic College offers a wide-range of activities that enables students to develop leadership skills and talents and develop a greater sense of belonging, involvement and responsibility.

Public Speaking and Debating
We belong to the Sydney Catholic Schools Public Speaking and Debating Association and our students participate in various competitions hosted by well-known community organisations.

Retreats and Camps
All students are expected to attend the annual retreat, camp or reflection days. These are designed to broaden students’ learning experiences and held develop quality relationships with peers, teachers and God. While faith development is an integral part of daily life at the College, retreats provide a greater opportunity to explore spirituality.

Sport
The College belongs to several sporting associations including the Metropolitan Catholic Schools Association and the New South Wales Combined Catholic Colleges Sports Association. Our sporting program provides students with the opportunity to represent Terra Sancta at interschool, regional, state and national levels in a wide variety of sports.

Performance
The performing arts continue to be a focus at the College with extensive use of the specialist facilities on both campuses. Students have an opportunity to perform in the College’s Creative Arts Evenings and productions. The College is also involved in other public performances and is the creative hub for CEO initiative, CAPTIVATE, which offers many opportunities in creative arts.

Community Outreach
The College has well established links with local community groups. Fundraising for St Vincent de Paul, East Timor and Caritas Australia is an integral part of the College’s social justice and pastoral care program.
