Abbotsleigh is a Pre K to Year 12 day and Year 7-12 boarding school for girls, with a reputation for excellence for more than 120 years. It is an Independent Anglican school.
Each girl is encouraged to develop her potential in a caring Christian environment by fostering her pursuit of personal and academic excellence. The year 2010 is an exciting one for Abbotsleigh. This year, our youngest learners benefit from our brand new:
• Early Learning Centre for girls and boys, from newborns to children aged up to five.
• Transition class, specially designed for girls aged four years old.
• Purpose built Infants complex.
• Year 3 learning spaces.
Our early learning programs are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach from northern Italy and New Zealand’s Te Whariki curriculum. These programs emphasise the individual child and the importance of using experiences at home, at school and in the wider community. They recognise the potential of young children to question, reflect, problem solve, theorise, experiment and express their findings through a variety of artistic ways.

The Junior School has undergone a major transformation. The campus now has light filled, flexible learning spaces with ready access to technology. There is also a specialist art centre featuring a stimulating, purpose built space with a comfortable mezzanine area for art appreciation and computer assisted design. The Junior School also features a well resourced library, assembly hall, computer lab, music centre, drama facilities, science room, play areas, tennis courts and a swimming pool. |

There are a range of activities in which girls can participate outside the classroom. These range from musical ensembles and choirs, to clubs and sport. Clubs cover such areas as debating, environment, robotics, service, Tournament of Minds and a student newspaper. Sports offered throughout the year include football (Years 4-6), minkey (Year 4 and 5) and hockey (Year 6), netball (Years 4-6) and tennis (Years 5-6). |
