Hilliard Christian School

Welcome

Hilliard Christian School has provided quality Christian education to the community since 1901. It is situated in a beautiful bushland setting at West Moonah with panoramic views along the Derwent River.
The school cultivates and encourages an atmosphere of tolerance and respect for others, including peers, parents and teachers. There is recognition of differences and affirmation of individual skills, abilities and positive personal attributes. Students are encouraged to do their best at all times and to participate in community and charity projects.

Hilliard is a school where students are developed in an environment built around our four key values (Belonging, Integrity, Respect and Perseverance). The school believes that these values are best understood within the framework of a Christian Worldview.

Hilliard Christian School is committed to providing a supportive, caring, and nurturing environment that promotes the holistic development of each student. Through its pastoral care program, co-curricular activities, and outdoor education initiatives, the school aims to foster a strong sense of community, character development, and a lifelong love of learning.

Our Philosophy

Hilliard Christian School provides schooling for children from Kindergarten to Year 10. The school is part of the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist School System and is operated by the Seventh-day Adventist church for young people desiring an educational experience based on a Christian philosophy. This philosophy touches every aspect of their lives.

At Hilliard Christian School, we're thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new Early Learning Centre in 2024, designed to nurture the curious minds of your little ones!

Our Early Learning Centre welcomes children aged 3 to 5 years, providing a safe and nurturing haven from 6:30am to 6:30pm, 50 weeks a year.
Our program is filled with fun and engaging activities that promote learning through play. The learning journey at Hilliard Christian School begins in Kindergarten, where the Early Years Framework provides a balanced approach to learning that fosters children's natural curiosity and wonder about the world.
For children aged 4 to 5 years, we offer a specialised kindergarten program aimed at preparing them for their exciting educational journey ahead. We focus on nurturing their intellectual, social, and emotional growth.

Secondary Years

The Junior Secondary curriculum provides students with opportunities to work both independently and cooperatively in a secure and nurturing environment. They are encouraged to explore their passions, consider their strengths and interests, and receive guidance in self-reflection and understanding of character development.
During their Senior Secondary years, students continue to build their knowledge and understanding of the Australian Curriculum while also preparing for their chosen courses beyond Hilliard.
Hilliard Secondary participates in inter-school sporting competitions and offers private music lessons and opportunities to perform in musical ensembles and choirs. ?Student Leadership is an integral part of the school's service education program, with students taking part in various fundraising activities and events throughout the year.

Pastoral Care

Nurturing and pastoral care are top priorities at Hilliard, and the school has a dedicated program to teach students how to resolve conflicts and build positive relationships. The Bridge Builders program is specifically designed to equip students with the language and skills necessary to navigate conflicts in a healthy and constructive way.
