The Glennie School is a Community where Tomorrow’s Women Learn. As unique individuals,Glennie girls are encouraged to develop the intellectual, physical and spiritual potential to be ‘all she can be’.
The School was founded in 1908 and named after Archdeacon Benjamin Glennie who, in the 1800’s, was an Anglican Priest on the Darling Downs, in Queensland, one of the richest agricultural areas of Australia.

Curriculum

Glennie offers the core literacy and numeracy subjects whilst providing learning and living experiences through full time programs specific to the:
Preparatory Year
Junior Years from Year 1 to Year 6
Middle Years for Year 7 to Year 9
and Senior Years from Year 10 to Year 12.
We are a leader among Australian schools, particularly in Performing and Fine Arts, Information Technology through notebook computers that are integrated in the Middle and Senior Years curriculum and Languages with our renowned French Immersion Program for Years 8 to 10.

Extra Curricular Activities

There are many opportunities in the extra curricular subjects and activities offered. Among these are debating, orchestras, ensembles, vocal, hospitality training, school based apprenticeships, work experience programs and a variety of competitive sports. The Glennie Equestrian Team continues to perform at the top level in the School’s and open competitions.

Special Features

The school has many modern facilities in all Year levels including an Aquatic Centre based on an indoor 10 lane heated pool, a synthetic running track for athletics, a Performing Arts Centre as well as multi-purpose courts for tennis, netball and basketball. There are science laboratories, modern classrooms, an Information Resources Centre as well as modern and comfortable boarding and dining facilities.

Enrichment

There are many opportunities for students to enrich their learning and living experience at the Glennie School. These opportunities range from special support for learning and language (international students) to pastoral and health care. There are opportunities for cultural enrichment that span music tours within Australia, drama performances, musicals and overseas / immersion visits.
