Our Values

Castlemaine Secondary College has three values on which it operates. These are Pride, Respect and Responsibility. These values have been a documented part of the college culture for several years and form part of the moral guide on which we operate. I believe that if our graduates leave the college with an understanding of these values, they will be successful.

Curriculum

There is a full range of core and elective subjects offered from year 7 to 12. Our year 7 to 9 students are offered a choice of class groupings to bring student interests into the classroom.

Our year 10-12 students enjoy a wide selection of elective subject choices, including programs for VCE, VCAL and VET programs.

We are also fortunate to run a combined Year 9 and 10 class operates under the holistic approach to Steiner Education. Students are nurtured through activities which stimulate them physically, intellectually, emotionally and artistically. Students do not specialise in one particular area but participate in the whole program.

Extra Curricular Programs

Castlemaine Secondary College has a strong and proud tradition of delivering an excellent music program to students from years 7 to 12.
The program is focused on music performance and caters to new and continuing students learning many different instruments.
Our highly trained and dedicated staff are passionate about providing students with the very best opportunities in music.

The College offers a diverse range of camps and excursions for students accross all levels including outdoor adventure camps, Tasmania Tour, snow camp and Amazing Race in Melbourne, just to name a few.

Partnerships with Parents and the Community

Integrated inquiry-based, enterprise and independent learning approaches connect students with our local and global community through building partnerships. We have established partnerships with a variety of community organisations and businesses.

We are building partnerships with parents to share skills and knowledge, to support the development of projects and excursions and to work with students within the classroom to sustain and extend their learning. We have supportive processes to develop parent involvement across the college and welcome Year 7 parents into their child's learning space any time.

"We can pull a strong community around every individual that gives them the sense that the school community will be a safe and inspiring place to be. I do believe by enabling parents and community members to be involved directly in the school we can support teachers and students in their journey together." Community member
