Our School

Epping Boys High School is a leading comprehensive boys’ high school, established in 1957. The school has a strategic direction called "Boys to Men" that seeks to engage all boys and build fine me. Students are provided with the opportunity to achieve high academic outcomes and engage in a wide range of co-curricular activities. All boys are encouraged to achieve their potential by participating in activities that foster their talents and gifts and enhance a sense of responsibility.

Our Values

The Epping Boys High School motto, "Strive to Achieve", has inspired both staff and students since the school's foundation in 1957. The code of expected behaviour is based on the values of courtesy, respect and responsibility.
All students are expected to work hard to achieve their personal best, to care about other people, to encourage and support fellow students and to enhance the reputation of the school.

Academic Profile and Curriculum

Epping Boys High School is a Centre for Excellence under the National Partnerships for Quality Teaching Program. The school provides a strong academic education, resulting in above average state results in literacy and numeracy assessments. The School Certificate and HSC results are consistently above the state average in most subject areas. Many of our top students achieve very high results in the HSC, including those in the Distinguished Achievers list and students nominated for ARTExpress, Encore and Design Tech. The dux of Year 12 in 2009 received an ATAR of 99.6.

CURRICULUM YEARS 7-10
The school offers a broad range of subjects across the key learning areas including the electives:
Commerce, Drama, French, German, Physical Activity and Sport Studies, Design and Technology, Graphics Technology, Electronics, Engineering, Metal, Timber, Hospitality, Information and Software Technology.

CURRICULUM YEARS 11-12
There are extensive curriculum offerings in:
English, Mathematics, Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), Social Sciences, Business Studies, Economics, Geography, Legal Studies, Work Studies, History, Creative Arts (Visual Arts, Drama, Music), PDHPE, Technology, (Design and Technology, Engineering Studies, Industrial Technology), Computing and Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses (Hospitality, Construction and Information Technology).

Facilities

The school is located on 8.8 hectares, with excellent facilities including an assembly hall, conference and function centre, library, gymnasium, two ovals, basketball courts, two tennis courts and a commercial-standard hospitality trade training centre.

Sport

The school has a long tradition of sporting excellence.
Sport is divided into grade and social sport. The choice of sports include: rugby, soccer, basketball, hockey, tennis, table tennis, bowls, Kung Fu, golf, archery, ice skating, volleyball, badminton, bush walking, bush bike riding, chess, baseball, cricket, Oz Tag, water polo, as well as house sports. We are involved in over 60 inter-school team competitions.

Co-curricular

Epping Boys High School strongly promotes the view that valuable learning takes place outside the classroom where students independently pursue areas of interest that are important to them.

The school offers over 70 extra curricular activities including: national competitions, musical ensembles, choirs, overseas sporting tours in rugby and soccer, overseas music tours performing in eisteddfods (Hawaii and Los Angeles), environmental groups, Charity Eisteddfod, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, SRC, chess, debating, leadership groups, Young Achievers, and Network Café.

There is an outstanding and well respected music tradition at our school. Our music ensembles include: Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Stage Band, Jazz Band, Training Band, Choir, String Ensemble, Junior Vocal Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Contemporary Guitars, Percussion Ensemble and a musical production every two years.
