Killarney Heights High School is a coeducational Year 7- 12 school set in pleasant grounds with bush-land surroundings.

The school is focused on academic excellence and the pursuit of personal best in all endeavours, and in building strong local and global community partnerships in an innovative and vibrant learning environment.

Killarney Heights High School has a strong values base and a personalised approach to learning.

A very comprehensive curriculum choice is offered at Killarney Heights High School. There is also a strong focus on languages and students can access an accelerated learning program in French. The other languages studied are Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Special programs are offered for gifted and talented children at Killarney Heights High School, students from language backgrounds other than English, and those with learning difficulties.

Facilities

The facilities at Killarney Heights High School include a fitness centre, oval, tennis and basketball courts, video conferencing facilities, recording studio, photography and multi-media facilities, drama facilities, interactive whiteboards, computer and wireless networking throughout the school, wireless notebooks in classrooms and a multi-purpose hall.

High Standards of Behaviour

Killarney Heights High expects high standards of behavior of students and there is a graded system of awards and remedial action.

All students at Killarney Heights High School are expected to wear the school uniform at all times.

Years 11–12

Courses at Killarney Heights High School in Years 11-12 include: Ancient History, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Chinese Background Speakers, Chinese Continuers, Community and Family Studies, Design & Technology, Drama, Earth and Environmental Science, Economics, Engineering Studies, English - all levels, Fundamentals of English, Food Technology, French Continuers and French Extension, Industrial Technology, Information Processes and Technology, Japanese Beginners and Japanese Continuers, Legal Studies, Mathematics (all courses), Modern History, Multimedia, Music 1 & 2, Music Extension, Personal Development Health and Physical Education, Photography Video and Digital Imaging, Physics, Society & Culture, Software Design, and Development, Textiles and Design, Visual Arts.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses include Hospitality, Construction, Information Technology and Entertainment.

Religious seminars are held once per term.

Extracurricular Activities and Sports Program

The extra curricular program on offer at Killarney Heights High School includes: Concert Bands, Stage Band, Chamber Music Ensemble, Overseas Band tours. Debating, Public Speaking, Junior Toastmasters Program, Dance Ensembles, Dramatic/Musical Productions, Mock Trial, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, Volunteer Club, Art Club and Chess Club.

A wide range of sports are available including: A.F.L., Athletics, Badminton,Basketball, Cricket, Golf, Gymnastics, Netball, Rugby Union, Surfing, Soccer, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Touch Football, Ultimate Frizbee, Volleyball, Water Polo, Yoga and a range of recreational sports.
