Enriched by the heritage of Catholic Education, Lumen Christi College equips young people with the attitudes, values and skills necessary to meet the challenges of 21st century life.
As a Catholic co-educational College, we foster pride in self and encourage every student to reach their true potential by striving for excellence in all things.
Our pastorally caring and supportive learning environment helps create a positive atmosphere in which all can learn and grow personally, socially and spiritually.
During its 27 years of existence the College has undergone a continuous process of development from somewhat small beginnings. Its growth is easily identified by the gradual emergence from a ‘four stream’ to a ‘six stream’ school, which in 2010 welcomed its first cohort of Year 7 students.
Our ongoing Capital Development Program has ensured the corresponding expansion of buildings, facilities, staff and educational opportunities have kept pace with the growth in student numbers.
Our well-resourced campus and dedicated staff offer creative learning experiences for students across the secondary school age and ability range. |

Our values are expressed through the College Vision which calls all members of our College Community to live up to the College motto by being ‘beacons of the Good News. People who help make God known and present in our world today’.
This is supported by our mission ‘to be an inclusive, creative learning community centred in Christ, committed to the education and development of each individual in a changing world.’
These sentiments underpin and provide direction for all College activities. |

Nestling below the foothills of the Darling Ranges, Lumen Christi College is in a very picturesque rural setting. Bounded by the Tonkin Highway and close to the Albany Highway the campus is accessible from all directions.
Most of the buildings on our spacious campus are single storey. In addition to the extensive grass and paved areas, where students can mingle freely during breaks, the College has ample space for a wide range of sporting and recreational activities including a huge Indoor Sports Centre.
The Arts are also well catered for at Lumen. Our Performing Arts Centre has a beautiful auditorium and state of the art computerised keyboard room. Expansion and refurbishment work has improved facilities for Manual Arts, Engineering, Food Science and Art.
In 2012 the Senior Transition Centre was opened. This new multi-purpose building houses VET and Careers services a variety of learning spaces for use by senior students and the Learning Support team. Capital Development work to improve the Junior transition Centre is also in progress.
The introduction of AppleMac laptops and recent overhaul and upgrade of the College’s networking systems ensures the College has the components that are essential in a 21st century learning environment. |

The College curriculum offers students a plethora of intellectual, cultural, sporting and social opportunities designed to create well-balanced and highly motivated individuals.
Our commitment to enhance academic excellence is supported by a well-structured timetable, vibrant curriculum and innovative teaching methods delivered by highly motivated staff.
The academic curriculum is organised into seven main Learning Areas. Each subject engages students in stimulating learning experiences, within and beyond the College campus.
The quality of our teaching, emphasis given to extension work for literacy and numeracy alongside the energy devoted to our Talented and Gifted Programme, clearly demonstrate the measures taken to assist every student to achieve their potential.
Many Lumen Christi students achieve academic success and move on to complete their education at university or alternative educational institute. Others choose different pathways into the world of work.
Recognition of the diverse needs amongst students led to the development of a highly successful VET programme at Lumen Christi College. Providing nationally accredited qualifications and valuable experiences the VET programme often gives a student the edge over others when applying for jobs, apprenticeships or courses for continuing their education. |

Lumen Christi College has a wide and varied support program to cater for the needs of all students; the brightest, those struggling and the majority who fall in between. The students at the upper end of the spectrum are catered for through our Talented and Gifted program.
Our dedicated team of Special Needs staff work closely with teachers and parents to enable students with particular learning needs to cope in mainstream classes and receive the specialist help their condition may require. Our learning support program is highly successful and well respected by staff at the Catholic Education Office. |

The Call to Community is the fourth pillar of the College Evangelisation Plan. As an agent of the Catholic Church Lumen Christi College has a responsibility to engage in the work of evangelisation in partnership with the parishes it exists to serve. Our College has a unique relationship with these churches, since it was due to the expressed desire and fervent dedication of the local Catholic Community that Lumen Christi College was established. Rooted in relationships evangelisation is everything we do that promotes, develops and gives witness to our faith. Three key examples of the positive relationship between the College and the parishes are through:
- Each parish having a nominee on the College Board
- The regular involvement of local clergy in the sacramental life of the College
- The annual visits made to parishes to present a report on the College
The College Community also takes seriously its responsibility to care for those in need. Through the attitudes and actions of staff, students gain an appreciation of the joy to be gained through service. The College Community works together in creating funds to support aid projects near and far. This positive nurturing also prompts many Lumen Christi students to engage in community service activities for far more hours than is necessary for this component of their Religious Education Program. |
