Academic excellence is a constant goal in the lives of both the staff and students of Marsden High School. In years 7 - 10, the curriculum is flexible and allows for student needs to be catered for through individual learning plans. There is a strong focus on developing the skills of learning, enabling students to achieve their academic potential.
The curriculum prepares students for the Higher School Certificate in a balanced way, allowing for a wide combination of choices and levels of study. Academic study in years 11 - 12 is often characterised by a favourable student/teacher ratio that creates a strong foundation for tertiary study and career development.

These skills assist students developing independent learning techniques. The Senior Learning Program in years 10-12 focuses on time management, learning styles and enhancing research skills. This program gives students the necessary tools to succeed in the Higher School Certificate.
Marsden’s Gifted and Talented Program offers exceptional students extension opportunities in English, Maths, Music and Art. Gifted students are identified through a range of methods and in consultation with parents, teachers and the students themselves.
