Established in 1983 Blue Mountains Steiner School is an independent, co-educational, non-denominational school in a beautiful bushland setting. Our school is registered with the SEA (Steiner Education Australia) and the AIS NSW.
The school is inclusive of culture, race and spiritual or religious beliefs.
Blue Mountains Steiner School provides a balanced and purposeful educational environment. We view all areas of a child’s development as integral to a healthy and balanced life: academic, creative and spiritual, physical, technical and cultural, social and moral.
Our classes at Blue Mountains Steiner School are busy, happy, non-stressful creative places of learning. Children are motivated as learning is enjoyable and interesting. |
As a Steiner school we encourage:
• the nurturing & preservation of childhood
• educational principles that support long-term health & wellbeing
• intrinsic motivation for life-long learning and striving to meet one’s full potential
• commitment to high standards of work
• independent thinking
• self-expression and embracing differences
• social and environmental awareness
• self-reliance, self-respect and respect for others.
Blue Mountains Steiner School provides an education for life by meeting each stage of a child's development with sequential, integrated programs that offer challenges and stimulation through richness of content. |

The playgroup at Blue Mountains Steiner School is held four days a week. Children and parents participate in a warm and nurturing environment. Children play together allowing them to develop their social skills. |
Free creative play is used in the Pre-Kindy (2 days per week) and Kindergarten at Blue Mountains Steiner School, based on the house and garden. The activities, that have a seasonal theme, have been carefully chosen as the foundation for literacy and numeracy and academic learning in the primary years. |
Reading, writing and numeracy are more formally taught in Class 1 and 2. Games and practical experiences are used at Blue Mountains Steiner School to teach children and throughout the primary years classical stories play a role in educating children about the world. Art, music and drama are also an important part of the children's education.
In the early Primary years the academic focus is on subjects such as English, Mathematics, Human Society and its Environment.
In the latter Primary years the areas of learning expand to include a range of subjects including geography, science, physics and algebra. |
Our students at Blue Mountains Steiner School make successful transitions to secondary schooling with impressive academic, motivational and social skills. They also cherish happy memories of their primary years. |
