Welcome to Dominic College

Dominic College is a co-educational Kindergarten to Year 10 College, conducted by the Salesians of Don Bosco. Based in Tasmania, Australia, the College is located on a spacious site in Tolosa Street, Glenorchy, nestled in the foothills of Mount Wellington.

As a comprehensive, independent, Catholic school, Dominic College are focused on innovative and creative learning that supports individual student growth.

The founder of Dominic College, Don Bosco, was a visionary 19th century priest and educator, who believed that the relationship between teacher and learner is one of the most important factors in achieving educational outcomes. At Dominic we invest a great deal in developing this relationship. Dynamic teachers work with students in developing quality engagement in learning.

Old Scholars of Dominic speak of three things they valued most about Dominic College: the quality staff who cared about them; their diverse learning opportunities and experiences and the life-long friendships they made through our school.

Don Bosco worked tirelessly for his students to become good Christians and honest citizens. Dominic College continues this commitment of developing a belief in God’s presence and goodness in our lives, and the call for all to be exemplary local and global citizens.

Kindergarten – Year 10 co-curricular continuum

Dominic College students have a consistent learning environment and community right through from Kindergarten to Year 10, making the transition from primary to secondary years seamless.

Modern, spacious facilities

Modern facilities complement the natural, picturesque 70 acre setting of Dominic College. Students enjoy access to multiple sporting facilities, developmental play equipment, contemporary classrooms and technology, and brand new buildings such as the design centre, dance studio, multipurpose centre and science laboratories.

Laptop program

A laptop program has been introduced to Year 5 and 7 Dominic College students, and the program will continue to roll-out to further year levels.

Currently, all students from Prep to Year 10 have access to portable banks of laptops, which complement interactive whiteboards to maximise learning potential.

Varied elective program

Dominic College has an extensive range of elective subjects which are available to students from Year 8. Students can choose from over 30 subjects across the faculties in addition to the essential core subjects.

Co-curricular program & Creative Arts focus

Dominic College has an extensive co-curricular program to supplement learning and communication outside of the classroom.

There are over 30 activities to be involved in ranging from clown school and sport to public speaking and the St Vincent de Paul’s Young Vinnies.

The Creative Arts is an integral part of fostering creativity within students and the Dominic College Creative Arts program has grown significantly in the last two years. Year 7 students choosing to attend Dominic will have the opportunity to apply for Creative Arts Scholarships.
