TEACHING AND LEARNING

All students from Years 5 to 12, follow an academic program which provides them with a comprehensive and challenging education. Padua places a very strong emphasis on the value of a broad general education in all the major areas of learning. Padua College constantly responds to changes on many fronts, while trying to maintain those values and practices which we believe have enduring relevance.

The Padua College staff has responded favorably to the national agenda, the new National Curriculum syllabus, along with embracing some other curriculum developments to provide opportunities for the students. The Learning and Enrichment Centre (LEC) provides for a diverse range of student needs. Vocational Education continues to serve a small cohort of Year 11 and Year 12 students delivering certificates in partnership with external registered training organisations. This benefits the students upon completion of Year 12 in that they leave with a vocational certificate in an area they may wish to continue with in the future. Padua College is enthusiastic and committed to education.

PASTORAL CARE

The school’s major aim is to provide the boys with an education which is not only Catholic but also distinctively Franciscan. As a faith community we live out Gospel values and place an emphasis on the Franciscan charism. Padua College emphasises the value of each individual and aim at providing an education which is both relevant and personal. The Student Pastoral Care Program focuses on recognising and rewarding achievement, effort and excellence and ensures all students have an equal opportunity to develop to their full potential. The aim of the Program at Padua College is to assist students in looking after themselves, each other and their school.

TECHNOLOGY

Padua College’s Information Technology ensures that our Physical Network Infrastructure, and Information Architecture, is of an Enterprise quality. Technology at Padua College continues to broaden and the continued work and investment provides an enormous advantage in the way that the students learn, access, and utilise technology. CO - CURRICULAR

Padua College offers a vast co-curricular program, with Sport being a major part of this extended educational experience. Padua College is a member of both the Associated Independent Colleges (AIC) and Combined Independent Colleges (CIC). The students are most certainly encouraged to be involved and engage in the multitude of sports on offer along with other activities, such as Debating, Chess, Social Justice programs to name a few, which broaden a student’s skills repertoire and experiences.

MUSIC

Padua College boasts a long and proud Franciscan tradition in Music. Since Padua College’s inception in 1956 there has been music, both choral and instrumental, in some form at the College. Padua’s rich musical tradition continues today under the auspices of the Franciscan Colleges Instrumental Programme (FCIP). There exists an extensive range of instruments taught through the FCIP. Students enrolled in the Programme will experience tours, camps and visits to an array of venues to showcase the talented students. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to join the various vocal ensembles and liturgy group which enrich the life of the College. School Musicals are also an integral part of College life.
