Welcome to St Peter Claver College
We are a co-educational Catholic secondary College in the Marist tradition. Our College's motto, "Concern, Love and Justice" permeates everything we do at St Peter Claver College.
Located on 14 beautiful hectares of land in the suburb of Riverview, St Peter Claver College was established in 1976 and now has 920 students.
Excellent Pastoral Care
St Peter Claver College aims to nurture each individual within a spirit of Concern, Love and Justice. Pastoral Care involves viewing each child in a holistic way, and understanding his or her uniqueness in the context of their family, peers and interactions with the wider community.
House Coordinators at St Peter Claver College work closely with a range of staff to deal with issues affecting individual students. These teams work together to set expectations, solve problems, develop plans for success, and build self-esteem.
Rich and Varied Curriculum
Year 8 students spend most of their first year in a set transition program designed to introduce them to secondary schooling as well as to the eight Key Learning Areas. Students are assisted in feeling at home in St Peter Claver College through Home Class activities as well as by remaining with the same classmates. This settled atmosphere combined with a Personal and Social Development Program, assists students to make friends and learn the routines of secondary schooling.
The Year 9 Curriculum at St Peter Claver College is designed to enable students to work confidently as individuals and in groups at levels that encourage continuous improvement. The wide choice of semester units enables students to improve their skills in interesting and challenging activities. In English and Mathematics classes, students are loosely grouped according to their confidence and levels of achievement in each area.
The Year 10 Curriculum is designed to round off students’ junior education and prepare them for Senior Studies. All students at St Peter Claver College develop a Senior Education and Training Plan which sets directions and goals for Senior Studies. Many students also commence VET, with some starting school-based apprenticeships.
In Years 11 and 12 students are guided and supported to achieve their potential academically. St Peter Claver College offers a broad number of subjects to suit different interests and abilities in academic areas and in vocational subjects.
High Standard of Performing Arts
Perfoming Arts Activities at St Peter Claver College engage as many students as sport does. The College's Performing Arts Program has grown enormously in recent years and now includes:
