New South Wales/Sydney Schools

There are 3136 schools in New South Wales, with about 1488 schools in Sydney, 113 Wollongong schools and 56 Newcastle schools. There is an enormous range of Sydney schools. The majority of Sydney schools, as well as Wollongong schools and Newcastle schools, are government schools. Sydney Catholic schools, including Sydney Catholic schools, Wollongong Catholic schools and Newcastle Catholic schools are the next largest group, followed by Independent schools. The majority of NSW schools, including Sydney schools, Wollongong schools and Newcastle schools are co-educational, with a small number of NSW schools either boys’ schools or girls’ schools. Government schools are non denominational and among non-government schools there are Catholic schools and Independent schools representing a range of religious faiths or no denomination.
