This prestigious day and boarding school for girls was founded in 1856 and offers academic challenge and academic care for every student from Kindergarten to Year 12 in a caring, Christian community that welcomes and values all faiths. Junior and Senior Schools are on the same campus. St Catherine’s girls are happy and purposeful, each making her unique contribution to the school and the wider world. Overlooking Sydney’s famous eastern suburbs beaches, the school is not far from Centennial Park and the University of New South Wales.
Staff work hard to ensure they raise the academic bar to the right height for every girl. This is done by differentiating lessons, offering extension classes, mentoring scholarship students, running a gifted and talented program, and providing a comprehensive academic support program. A wide range of subjects is offered.
Academic challenge is underpinned by a strong academic care team who ensure every child is valued, monitored, supported and guided. Every girl participates in mentor groups, with group mentors and year mentors. The Chaplain and Biblical studies team are involved in teaching and developing the girls’ understanding of religion; a counsellor team is available for consultation and support. Genuinely comprehensive, girls mix with students of different backgrounds, faiths and abilities, but are educated according to their intellectual needs. |
