The College has four (4) buses, and runs a door-to-door service in both the local area and outlying areas such as the Adelaide Hills and Gawler district. Use of the bus is on a needs basis, and a fee is payable. All College buses are fitted with seat belts and are driven by College employees.
An OSHC service is run by the College. This service provides care between 6:30am and the commencement of the school day, and then from 3:30pm until 6:30pm. There is also a Vacation Care program which runs in each Term Break and for four weeks over the Christmas/New Year period. The Vacation Care program includes such outings as movies, bowling, swimming in summer months, visiting animal farms, jumping castles, cooking and much more. This service is for students enrolled at the College.
All students in Years 6 to 12 attend a year level camp. These camps are held in a variety of locations including, Swan Reach, Wallaroo, Wellington, Aldinga, Victor Harbor, Second Valley. Camps always have a “learning” as well as a “relational” component. Students are exposed to many activities which they may never have had the opportunity to try, including but not limited to canoeing, abseiling, kayaking, surfing, tent camping, hiking, and a farm experience.
Students are able to participate in Parent/Teacher/Student interview nights, which give them an opportunity to be heard, and to understand procedures and processes better. These nights enable teachers and parents to focus on learning strategies specific to their own child. Parents who understand processes and procedures, achievements and challenges, are better able to support their child at home leading to better outcomes at school.
Hope Christian College runs vertically streamed Middle and Senior School Home Groups. This means that in Middle School there are Year 6,7,8 & 9 students in each morning & afternoon Home Group period, and in Senior School there are Year 10,11 & 12 students in each Home Group. Students stay in the same Home Group for the whole of Middle School and Senior School, thus enabling great relationship building with peers and their Home Group Teacher. This system also allows older students to mentor younger students, developing leadership capacity in the older students.
