Box Hill Senior Secondary College operates as a regional or metropolitan College with one-third of the students residing more than 20 km from the College.
The school truly values diversity. Box Hill Senior Secondary College students have gone on to study medicine, law and engineering. Others have become chefs and builders. Some have established their own businesses or become artists or musicians.
Our programs cater specifically to the needs of young adults. At this school we have no uniform or school bells but we do have high expectations.

Staff have a strong client focus and are committed to the provision of programs that take advantage of the flexibility inherent within the VCE structure. As part of the enrolment and program selection process all students will have the opportunity of an interview with course coordinators to assist with appropriate subject selection.
Box Hill Senior Secondary College offers a diverse curriculum. Students are attracted to the College because of the broad range of programs and its young adult learning environment.
They can choose from 33 VCE subjects and 20 VCE VET programs that provide pathways to further education, training and employment.
Student learning is enhanced through a large work placement program and through links with industry, TAFE colleges and peak sporting bodies.

- The Senior College enrols students at Years 9, 10, 11 & 12.
- More than fifty per cent of students are undertaking VET programs.
- The Sport program - Basketball, Football (AFL and AFLW), Netball & Tennis enrolment accounts for just under half of the total enrolment.
- A vibrant Art, Fashion, Contemporary Music, Drama, and Theatre Studies program attracts students to the College.
- The Technology program enrols students into Electrical and Building pre-Apprenticeships, Plumbing and Landscape and Horticulture VET programs, and Engineering. Students in this area are vocationally orientated and usually seek apprenticeships when they exit the College.
Box Hill Senior Secondary College runs Specialist Sports Development programs in Basketball, Australian Rules Football (AFL & AFLW), Netball & Tennis. Students athletes are able to combine academic study with intensive sport training during school hours and we acknowledge the development of the student both in their sporting and VCE program. Students undertaking the Sports Development program may select their VCE studies from a wide range of academic and vocational courses.
Throughout the year at Box Hill Senior Secondary College students regularly meet one-on-one with their designated advocate (mentor). At these sessions students discuss their progress and set learning goals. They are also provided with strategies and support to achieve their intended pathway.
The Sports Development program is supported by state of the art sports facilities. These include a basketball gymnasium, a 12 court tennis complex and a High Performance Sports Complex, which includes a weights centre, cardio rooms and sports medicine facilities.
