Smithfield State High School

Smithfield State High School is a co-educational government school. The current enrolment is approximately 850 students. The school is located in the beautiful Northern Beaches district of Cairns and is approximately fifteen kilometres from the city centre. It is situated on twelve hectares of tropical grounds and is less than one kilometre from the beach and rainforest. A pedestrian underpass connects the school to the local campus of James Cook University.

The school is adjacent to the Cairns Regional Council library and Sporting and Recreation Complex which includes playing fields, a gymnasium and an Olympic sized swimming pool. There is a regular bus service stopping in front of the school and connecting to the city and nearby suburbs.
