Scotch College

A Leading School for Boys

Scotch College is one of Australia's leading schools for boys. The School has been at the forefront of education since its foundation in 1897. Throughout its long history, the School has upheld a tradition of excellence that is reflected in a wide and progressive curriculum.

At Scotch College, learning is more than an academic focus; it is a total picture which provides a balance between a student's intellectual, physical, emotional, relational and spiritual needs.

Scotch's tradition of individuality, excellence, and community is a trademark of our students; it is the cornerstone on which our school was built and the heritage for its future.

Boarding

Boarding is an integral part of Scotch College and the School has approximately 170 boarders from Years 7 to 12. Many come from country areas of Western Australia, with some boarders from interstate and overseas.
• Available for Years 7 to 12
• Stunning location overlooking the School's extensive playing fields
• Excellent student leadership programme
• Unique structure and year group themes

Our boarding houses are far more than a place of residence; they represent a vibrant, close-knit community rich in traditions.

International Curriculum

In keeping with the School’s goal to provide education of an international standard, the School offers WACE and the International Baccalaureate. Scotch College is authorised to offer both the Primary Years Programme and the Middle Years Programme to provide a seamless curriculum of an international standard of excellence in the formative years. The Diploma programme, offers a choice of pre-university education pathways for Year 11 and 12 students.

We aim to equip students with the knowledge, confidence, skills and maturity to make the most of their abilities. It is crucial that students are adaptable in today's ever-changing environment. So we strive to ensure they become:
• independent life-long learners
• creative and critical thinkers
• problem solvers
• cooperative and collaborative workers
• skilled researchers
• global communicators

Developing the ‘whole’ boy – co-curricular activities

A Scotch education is an evolving process which stimulates the unique qualities and aptitudes of individual students. It provides a depth of curriculum and activities which recognize that no two boys are alike. The School's diverse academic, sports and creative programmes encourage each boy to explore a variety of options. Through this the boys discover innate abilities, learn teamwork, exercise initiative and, ultimately, find a productive place within the School community. These programmes also prepare boys for life beyond school, either within Australia or internationally.

A proud tradition – Pipe Band

The Scotch College Pipe Band is the most visible symbol of the School's Scottish tradition.
Established in 1947, it has achieved consistent recognition through its performances in Western Australia, national competitions and international Tattoos.

The Pipe Band's 160 players undertake numerous public and charity performances each year, in addition to performances at assemblies and functions within the School.
